Warrior Spotlight: Keivan Shaw
Warrior Spotlight is written to shine light on a Warrior who has exemplified the 5 point Warrior code, and goes above and beyond, in and outside of programs.
This Warrior Spotlight is written with great sadness. Keiven Shaw, 28, passed away on June 7th, 2015. He is remembered as a great friend, and the true definition of a Warrior in every sense of the word. Anyone that knew Keiven, knew he was one of the happiest people you would ever come across, and could truly light up a room with his smile. So in a Keiven fashion, let us shine this light on a Ultimate Warrior who left an impact on everyone that will be everlasting.
He had a way of befriending anyone and everyone, and had so much passion for life, and for OK and its fellow Warriors.
During programs, he was a fearless Warrior. Keiven had a fervent way to him, and no challenge was ever to difficult for him. He was always a self motivated, trying to figure out what to do next, and how he could help. When he wasn’t able to communicate what he wanted or needed, he always found a way to tell you with his humor and body gestures. He was always so happy to be at OK, and always so eager and excited for whatever activity he was going to be apart of that day.
We asked Warriors to share memories of Keiven, and there were so many. They ranged from high school days at OPRF, spending lunch with him, riding the OK bus to programs, his awesome dance moves, his basketball skills, and his great sense of humor, whether it was talking to ladies, or trying to wear everyone’s sunglasses. These are just some of the few memories he will be remembered by.
Opportunity Knocks was created for Warriors, just like Keiven. He had a way of befriending anyone and everyone, and had so much passion for life, and for OK and its fellow Warriors. We were extremely lucky to know Keiven, and his memory will be remembered and carried on at OK for years to come.
